English in Year Six
It Seemed… by Gideon Abraham

The raging sea was raging under the shaking and rocking of the boats and ships,
Making haste to get away,
From the deserted house it seemed.
The tawny owls were hooting, the nightingales were singing,
But all quite a distance from the abandoned house it seemed.
Decayed plants and rotten earth were the only things you could smell,
At the sinister site of the haunted house it seemed.
I could feel the whistling wind blowing boldly against my face,
At the scary house it seemed.
The rain sluiced down onto our heads and shoulders,
At the creepy house it seemed.
The thunder cracked and rumbled,
The lightning clawed its way,
At the frightening house it seemed.
The gates and floors and roofs were chipped,
At the petrifying house it seemed.
We turned the handle and stepped inside,
The terrifying house it seemed.
There were cobwebs hanging everywhere,
In the freaky house it seemed.
There was imminent blood on the floor,
In the horrific house it seemed.
The floors were sagging, the roof caved in,
At the derelict house it seemed.
Shadows crept along,
The mysterious house it seemed.
The atmosphere was eerie,
In the bloody house it seemed.
We stepped into another room,
Scared, yes scared, we were,
In the dark house it seemed.
