Year Four

For children aged 8-9

Reading, spelling, and homework are all vital foundations of schoolwork in Year 4. The curriculum promotes the development of Mathematical skills, knowledge and understanding and a positive attitude to the subject, encouraging awareness of its relevance to real-life situations and problem-solving. In Literacy, a broad range of skills are developed, ranging from reading comprehension and creative writing, enjoying and exploring language to the transcription skills. Exploration of English grammar and usage takes place throughout the year. The main foci of the science programme are knowledge, skills and understanding. History, Geography, Physical Education, Music, Art, PSHCE, and ICT are also well represented in the Year 4 curriculum. In Jewish Studies, the lessons focus on Tefillah, Chumash, Hebrew grammar and vocabulary, Hebrew reading, Parashat Hashavuah, Jewish Living, Shabbat, Kashrut, and Berachot.
